Most companies use purchase orders to describe the product or service that is to be supplied. Often, designated individuals within the company create purchase orders using a standard company system.

Ensure the adequacy of the requirements that are specified by the purchase order prior to release. Each purchase order should include where appropriate:

  1. Identification of product or service to be delivered, quantity, delivery date, and cost
  2. Requirements for approval or qualification of product, procedures, processes or equipment
  3. Requirements for the qualification of personnel
  4. Quality management system requirements
