Operational control procedure

Management system procedures and forms

Introduction and purpose

procedures and forms

The purpose of the operational control procedure is to reduce the risk of your organization not achieving its objectives without certain controls in place and to implement the actions determined in Clause 6, e.g. risk and opportunities, objectives, and changes.

These activities are planned and suitably prepared to cover all aspects of your organization’s operations including normal operation, maintenance and emergency situations.

Application and scope

The operational control procedure has been developed to assist in meeting the requirements of Clause 8.1 of ISO 9001:2026, ISO 14001:2026 or ISO 45001:2018 - Operational planning and control. ISO 14001:2026 now refers to externally provided processes, products and services rather than outsourced processes.

Where possible, operational controls under this procedure are combined with other operational controls associated with the operation of the equipment or service. In most situations, separate controls will not be required to support the controls that would usually be developed.

Operational controls are established where hazards and risks are identified. Operational control measures are also implemented where their absence could lead to a deviation from your policy and objectives.

Quick to download and easy to implement!
