ISO 9000:2005 Supplier relationships (superseded)

Your business and its suppliers are inter-dependent and mutually beneficial relationships help both parties create value and enhance quality. This is an interesting idea but is never fully developed beyond purchasing and data analysis. Taken to its logical conclusion this principle should lead you into Just In Time inventory management.

ISO 9001:2008 Clause 7.4 Purchasing has been replaced with ISO 9001:2015 Clause 8.4 Control of externally provided products and services. This clause addresses all types of external provision, purchasing from a supplier, or through the outsourcing of processes.

Your organization is now required to take a risk-based approach to determine the type and extent of controls that are appropriate for each external provider and all outsourced processes.

How to apply the latest quality management principles

The latest and current quality management principles (QMPs), stated in ISO 9000:2015, are intended to provide the foundation by which any organization can continually improve its performance.

You can learn to apply the latest quality management principles in the context of your business's own particular operations by reviewing and documenting its activities in the context of each quality management principle.
